Episode 28: Damar Hamlin - The Ultimate Inspiration
This episode has been published and can be heard everywhere your podcast is available.
It’s been a bizarre and devastating few weeks for our lovely city. Cass and Kath had had plans, ideas and goals for how they wanted to begin the new year, and were going to talk about it with the Baddies for the 2023 kick-off first episode, but they both agreed it just doesn't feel right. The gals are not feeling motivated, and that's OK.
While New Year's is a great opportunity for a re-set or fresh start, when your plans change and something big happens, or a series of things that knock you down mentally, it is 100% OK to just be in that moment with yourself and your thoughts. You never have to force motivation when your tank is empty.
Let's take a moment to acknowledge what Buffalo has been through these past few weeks. Christmas plans were completely shot because of the snowstorm. And that’s best case scenario; it was a very dangerous storm with 40 people passing. A major dark cloud over the holiday. Not to mention the post-storm "to-do" list piling up fast with late holiday celebrations. Then... everyone had to watch a beloved Bills player fighting for his life Monday night. It's all so heavy.
In the midst of tragedy, there is always a glimmer of hope. That hope is the man Damar Hamlin. Cass and Kath have been so inspired by his story of making lemons into lemonade. Moving forward, BIBLO wants to encourage people to talk and celebrate the positive things other people do in their lives BEFORE a tragic event occurs.
In the words of Damar Hamlin himself “If you get the chance to show some love today, do it. It doesn’t cost you nothing”.
